That old-growth oak door or heart-pine trim was built better than anything you can buy today. Under the paint is usually solid wood that just needs to breathe again. Talk to us before a replacement salesman talks you out of a piece of your house's history.
What we do

Why we do it
St. Louis was built by craftsmen — brick-city two-families in Soulard, Victorians on Lafayette Square, Craftsman bungalows in Webster and Kirkwood. Their doors, mantels and trim are still here under the paint. We treat every piece as something to be used and something to be preserved, and we'll always tell you honestly when a piece is better left as it is.

Questions
Most older St. Louis woodwork has lead paint somewhere in its layers. We test every piece and follow EPA lead-safe practices, so the lead stays in our shop and out of your home. [Add your EPA RRP certification number.]
Not when it's done right. We match the method to the piece: dip stripping for sturdy doors and shutters, gentler hand stripping for veneers, carvings and antiques. We neutralize and dry everything slowly so joints stay tight.
Yes — it's what we're known for. We pick up and deliver doors, mantels, furniture and large items across St. Louis City, County, St. Charles and the Metro East. [Add delivery fee or radius.]

Both. Take your piece home bare and ready for your own finish, or let us stain and finish it with a color and sheen matched to your room.
